Default The Garden of Eden..where was it located?

There are many theories. The problem is it was said to be located near a river that split into four rivers.. Tigris (Iraq), Euphrates (Iraq), Pishon (Unknown location), Gihon (Ethiopia - possibly the Nile).

So given this information where could it possibly have been? One river does not split into four in that way in today's geography.

The reports originated from the Genesis would be a time when sea levels were lower . The Persian Gulf region has an average depth of 50 meters and a maximum of 90 meters, so the whole area was the region above sea level. The two rivers would likely be currently unidentified rivers that reach the Gulf from Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. The flood would result in rising sea levels, flooding the Gulf region and therefore hiding under the sea the location of the Garden of Eden, possibly altering the climate of the region and contributing to desertification in the Arab Peninsula.

Basically it could have been anywhere from as far west as Sinai to as far east as the confluence of the Tigris & Euphrates, from as far south as Yemen (depending on whether "Cush" refers to Ethiopia) to as far north as Armenia. The biblical description isn't especially clear & even within the biblical narrative some allowance would have to be made for geographical alterations due to the Deluge.

The Garden of Hesperides has a familiar tree with golden apples guarded by a snake. It was placed anywhere from Libya to Hyperborea, in any event, "In the far west corner of the world".

The Garden of Eden is located deep within the mind, if you can believe Jung.

I was just watching a Joseph Campbell documentary last night and he made the point again and again: The Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) somehow have ended up interpreting all of their myths as literal historical facts.

In that case, Jung would be correct.

Armenia, the birthplace of humanity and where humanity was saved from the flood, from a Gospel published in 1634 in London

Published by Dezauche and engraved by Marie F. Duval.

Detail from a Biblical map by the French cartographer Philippe Buache published in Paris in 1783. Armenia is marked as “EDEN oł était LE PARADIS TERRESTRE.

    ARMENIA
The Land of the Biblical Paradise on the Earth,
from the famous John Wetstein Bible, Amsterdam, 1730

*Tutmoses III of Egypt (1500 BC) mentions the people of ‘Ermenen’ paying tribute when he held his court at Ninevah, and says that in their land “heaven rests upon its four pillars.” (note: Tutmose III was the first Pharaoh to cross the Euphrates to reach the Armenian Highlands).

*Old Persian name ‘Armin’ meant “dweller of the garden of Eden” (Persians also used this form ‘Armin(a)’ for Armenia)
    Armenian DNA Project

over 300 individuals that have already been tested, revealing that the Armenian branches of DNA are at the root of many branches in Europe.

Armenians belong to 13 distinct genetic groups that go back tens of thousands of years, while at the same time there is no trace of invaders in their DNA in the last 4000 years

just because caucasian representations of adam and eve portray them as caucasian doesnt mean that you have to take the whole myth of creation literaly. unless of course you are:a) intellectually challenged. b)trying to troll with some bland and cheap demagogy. c) both previous answersu
