Nope, the spanish left after Argentina became independent and the argentines entered. Then the english expelled them. England never had any right to the eastern part of the islands, they just took it by force. That's why Argentina has some right in their claims.

And that's why posts like this are funny:

The last european setlement until argentinians tried to take Falklands in XIXth century was spaniard. Then it is logical if argentinians think that Malvinas had to be argentinian, because the last european colonizator was his colonizator, like Cook islands are actually New Zealand , and Tasmania is Australia and not United Kingdom. Evidently United kingdom have rigths because they defeated argentineans by force twice, but argentineans also have rights as spanish sucesor, because Spain also colonized Malvinas islands, and spanish even defeated british by force making them to go out from the islands. Finally until the last invation in XIXth century , british only took control of the western islands, and never had eastern islands which were of french or spaniard soveranity .
