The liberation of Karvachar 27 years ago
27 years ago today Armenian military units liberated Karvachar region of Artsakh.
On March 27, 1993, Armenian troops launched a liberation operation in Karvachar. On April 1, Karvachar was released. On April 2, Armenian forces advanced, and three days later they settled on the Omar Pass.
Actions to free Karvachar began on March 31 at around 00:00. On April 1, after a 25-kilometer throw, Armenian troops were already in the center of Karvachar.
The liberation of Karvachar was very important for the security of the northern and northeastern borders of Armenia and Artsakh. Karvachar was an important strategic element for the Armenian side. Provided the rear of the Martakert region and the whole Artsakh.
In this video watch how good Armenian soldiers treated Azerbaijani civilians, give them food etc. Here are what Azerbaijani civilians said:
7:58 - 8:05
"We are living just as we lived before."
8:05 - 9:06
"The Armenians take good care of us-- even better than the Azerbaijani's. I have two daughters. If I don't find the way to them, I'm sure the Armenians will take me to them (my daughters). It's not the Armenians' fault... it's not our (Azerbaijanis') fault. Our Azerbaijani government needs a reality check so that like it has always been-- we can continue to live with the Armenians side by side. We keep animals, grow food. That's why the Armenians do not threaten us-- they take good care of us."
9:06 - 9:29
"If we go to Azerbaijan, our people might kill us. The Armenians take good care of us. We (Azebraijani's) would not have treated you (Armenians) like this. You've taken amazing care of us. From the first day, you have given us everything-- clothing, a place to sleep, food, everything... everything."
