    Batle of Tsushima

The battle was a devastating loss for Russia, which lost all of its battleships, most of its cruisers and destroyers, and effectively ended the Russo-Japanese war in Japan's favor. The Russians suffered 4,380 killed and 5,917 captured, including two admirals, with 1,862 interned

I can understand why many would be tempted to pick Constantinople here, and I expect it to win, but it doesn't really deserve to. The Fall of Constantinople was really little more than a mop up operation as it was a near powerless city by 1453 and the Ottomans had long since consolidated their hold over the Balkans and Anatolia. It was mostly just a symbolic victory for them that had little strategic meaning.

It wouldn't have meant much had the Crusaders not screwed up at Nicopolis.

I would say mohi or nicopolis.

(first) Battle of Mohács could also be added (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Moh%C3%A1cs)

I don't see how. It's mostly a symbolic-romantic adventure story for Serbs; the irony being that it set the stage for Stefan Lazarevic to accede to becoming an Ottoman vassal and offer 1,500 Serbian knights to collaborate with the Turks in defeating the Crusaders at Nicopolis. His contribution proved decisive.

No it isnt, and it certainly wasn't failure, because it stalled progress of Ottomans.

One will note that all three losses involve Hungarians.

I'm not sure what should be taken from that.

I'm saying my opinion as Bulgarian. This battle scared our Tzars enough that in 1394 Tarnovo fell and in 1396 Vidin fell with which Bulgarian kingdom stopped existing.
