Let us cultivate stern righteous hatred for Germans

Victoria Square, Birmingham, England. Lord Beaverbrook, newspaper tycoon and Minister in the War Cabinet, with his friend and fellow German hater; Winston Churchill.

Addressing a rally in Victoria Square in June 1942, Lord Beaverbrook announced:

The German people approved at every stage as Hitler passed from crime to crime.

Let us cultivate stern righteous hatred for Germans.

Let us also hate the Japanese—those barbarians who give us good cause for hate.

Let our contempt for the misguided Italians be bitter and lasting, as hatred itself, but keep our chief hatred for our chief enemies—the Germans.
Now, by hard, sharp blows and killing, and killing is the time for us to show that we are warriors of the world.
