Default "Celtic Toe" experiment / survey

    Hello,
For as long as I can remember, what we today define as "celts" have utterly fascinated me, despite the fact that I am not one myself. When I came across the concept of the "celtic" (and or morton's or greek) toe, I immediately started asking people (who's ancestry I knew of, or if I knew they had a celtic-related surname) if their second toe is longer than their big toe... and every single person I have asked who has a celtic surname or ancestry has had this trait. (At least in my area) So I would like to expand my search to the internet:

(I know there are celts all over the map, but for the purposes of my question here I would like to refine it to Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.)

If both your parents are from Scotland, Ireland, or Wales, could you let me know if your second toe is longer than your "big" toe? If you are comfortable telling me if which areas your parents are from and what your surname is / mother's maiden name that would be helpful as well. If you aren't a "celt" and you have input relevant to the topic please share.

Thanks for your time and for helping me find out more about this

Well the fact that you also describe it at Greek toe calls into question your assertion. I have "Celtic" toe but I have ancestry in Southern Germany and Austria but also Scotland and Ireland so who knows.

I am not a celt but my second toe is larger than the first toe but not by much thank god. I personally think that celtic toes are associated with taller people. I have never seen short people having celtic toes.

    A poll?

Thanks for opening up the poll but you should add one for people who are not from the UK!
    Should be something like this:

I have UK ancestry and I have a longer 2nd toe
I have Other ancestry and I have a longer 2nd toe
I have UK ancestry and I DO NOT have a longer 2nd toe

My second toe is the longest and my father's side is Welsh. So that might be why.

I am just a measley colonial....but of the old stock variety. All of my more recent family names hail from the British Isles. However, nobody in my immediate family has that longer second toe. We all have wider feet and our big toes are longer. It sounds like I probably have Saxon/Germanic feet....and outside of my ancestry from the Isles....the rest comes Germany/France/The Netherlands.....so, there's a fat lot of Germanic that dilutes the Celtic in our family lol
