Nope, it`s because Russians along with the Armenians organized ethnic cleansing policies in today`s Armenia from 1820s to 1920s. Thats how Armenia became one of the few countries in the world without any sizable minority. Check the historical population figures of Yerevan and other Armenian cities, then you will see what was the ethnic population figures for these places from 10th to 20th century.

They did same thing in Karabakh region in 1992. It was half Azeri half Armenian populated town but now there is not even single Azeri living in there anymore after a million of them expelled out and ~35.000 dead. Also before the Karabakh conflict, Armenia had about 7-8% Azeri minority but they have been forced to leave because of the tensions.

If you are a Georgian, you should know that it`s not possible to have an homogenous country in Caucasus under normal conditions.

In Azerbaijan, influential Soviet Azeris orchestrated brutal pogroms against Armenians (1988-1990). In these pogroms Azeri-Turks acquired the names and addresses of Armenians who resided in cities, towns and villages throughout Azerbaijan. With that information they organized mob violence directed against Armenians.

Well I wouldn't say the Armenian Church is so keen on proselytizing like the Western Churches are (Protestant, Catholic). I should say though there are also a strain of Armenian nationalists that revere more the pre-Christian origins of Armenia and some of the pagan religions, but in all, nationalism in the most part includes the Armenian faith. "For God and Country" as they say in England.
