Instead of making this a poll, I just thought everyone should give their thoughts and opinions on these once great people.

Those images depict a romanticized view of Amerindians, and most Amerindians today in the US are mostly whites claiming the minuscule amount of Amerindian they have in them.

The closest thing we get to Indigenous North Americans in our country is the mestizos who come here from south of the border.

In Western Canada people have a negative opinion of them. Nor there is romantic association with them at all. Most people would not want them as neighbours, and they are seen as drunkards and beggars, basically. They also have high amounts of Alcohol, Drug and Domestic abuse. The neighbourhood that they live in tend to be downtrodden, and they have the highest crime rates as well. Though in general they seem to be a float and not many people talk or think about them in the sameway some Americans do. The largest minority in Western Canada is Amerindians and there not loved but quite seen with hate and contempt. In Eastern Canada there seen more postively. As for my opinion I see them like any other people nothing special or unspecial.

They were too culturally fractured to be able to adapt to changing circumstances and integrate into a more dominant culture thus the state they are in today.

Funny enough, when I said there were black cocks in this thread, there were 10 users viewing. Then they quickly left. I guess they were disappointed and left.

I've met a few over the years. There aren't many, if any, 'true' ones around here but I've enountered some who were here for one reason or another.

They were fine enough and didn't give me any attitude and visa-versa.

My opinion is they were a tribalistic people with a strong tie with the spiritual as it manifested in nature. There is something poetical about this approach to nature, and some of their figures cast themselves in a rather heroic manner. This heroism centered around this spirituality, which manifested itself in nature, but they were never ever able to develop this idea surrounding spirituality in a cultured and civilized manner.


Their feeling towards nature was sublimely powerful according to Kant, because it was fulled of an adventurous and daring approach to nature, but it failed to incorporate a higher and superior systematic approach to it like Westerners. They had also a lot of primitive and savage aspects about their culture, which were not noble whatsoever.


They were a people that failed to unify the tribes above petty conflicts into a centralized nation, and failed to surround and ground a system of culture and civilization around it. They were a people with a quasi-advanced spirituality, but their primitive and savage components kept them from advancing and perfecting it further.


If they had become more cultured and civilized perhaps their spirituality would have taken on a more authentic and true nature as the Europeans, but their biology and environmental pressures did not shape and mold them as such. Therefore their inferior ways have arisen and shown themselves in today's societies, and a lot of the former sublime nobility of nature has been lost.


It has nothing to do with Western cultures being imposed on them, which were full of many sublime and noble sentiments. They just could not incorporate them into this more advanced and perfected spiritual system. This simply has to do with their biology and environmental conditions and orientation.
