Can mixed australian aborigines pass as European?

Interesting question. I basically came back here to ask this. I am currently writing a paper on the australian aborigines. I was re-reading about a week ago Coon's The Living Races of Man, which notes that half-caste children between australian aborigines and European settlers can pass as European.

It is commonly observed that the children of mixed Australian aborigine/European matings appear at least in phenotypic features as predominantly (or sometimes fully) White, as they seem to loose most of their primitive Australian aborigine (Australoid) features. There are numerous explanations for this, one is that the Australoids themselves are ''archaic whites'', basically just robust primitive Caucasoids reflecting the ancestral Pleistocene Caucasoid morphological type. Of course this does not mean Australoids are the ancestors of Caucasoids, it just means that they have retained archaic features which Caucasoids would have had a long time ago (but Caucasoids have evolved). So children created through mixed Australian aborigine and European matings more or less come out as European through the mix of archaic + modern (evolved) Caucasoid traits.

There are other theories, but i'm opening this thread to discuss.

Please Note: In no way am i saying mixed European-Australian aborigine matings are a good thing, i don't support any form of interracialism. I'm just curious about the anthropology. Some mixed European-Australian aborigines are in fact not at all ugly (unlike Negroid-White mixes).

According to Coon, virtually all 1/4 australian aborigine and 3/4 white can pass as white. In contrast no 1/4 Negroids or 1/4 Mongoloids can, they still appear mixed, even 1/8 and 1/16 Negroids or Mongoloids looked mixed. I think some who are 1/2 aborigine and 1/2 white cannot pass as European, but i agree with coon 1/4 aborigines 3/4 white can pass as white.

Not really. There is, at least in that girl, a look around her mouth and jaw that is distinctly Australoid.

Wide palate, alveolar prognathism, flattened frontal area of skull etc. These Australoid features though are massively reduced, and in 1/4 aborigines 3/4 white these traits fully disappear. My general point was though is that in mixed aborigine-european matings, the european (Caucasoid) less robust traits dominate. I do regard the Australoid phenotype as ''archaic white''.

They generally have to get to around 1/8 to 1/16 to be fully whitened as in phenotype. Full De-pigmentation occurs around the 1/4 mark though.
