Well, obviously the Alps are known for their mountains, so that would be a bit boring. Where I live I see the Palatinate mountains, the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains.

Here is one of my favourite self-made pictures with a spectacular sunset sky. The mountains that are close belong to the Black Forest, in the background you see the Palatinate mountains where they melt into the Vosges Mountains. In between is the wide upper rhine valley, which, of course, you can not see in the picture.

View from our hills to the Black Forest mountain ridge:

    Inside the Black Forest:

And view from the Black Forest to the Alps:

At the moment there is an intense discussion whether a part of the Black Forest should become a nationalpark. This park would be about 45mins away from my home (Black Forest itself is only 25min away). I hope they will do it...

Sorry everyone, the victory goes to the Scottish Highlands, the home of rain, rain, and Graham.
Breath-taking mountains, I envy you Graham!!!

    I love mountains!

My country is very large and has many mountains... so I'll just post a couple that I've been to in my Area:

    Steptoe Butte:

Schweitzer Mountain, I used to Snowboard here as a teen.

I also used to snowboard at Silver Mountain.

Mount Spokane, I like this photo because this was a common view I had as I was growing up. It sums up the area pretty well:

These are the closest mountains that I currently live nearby, the Blue Mountains:

    ^^They're in the background.

^^ Foothills of the Blue Mountains on the edge of town, I've jogged out past that red barn up a ways quite a few times.

I could go on all day posting pictures of mountains in this area, I better stop.

We don't have very high ones in Finland. I took these photos when I was hiking in Finnish Lapland this summer. The first one is about 700 meters above sea level.

Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous US and part of the amazing Sierra Nevada's of California. I've been here a few times and wow it's amazing.

    MountRainier-200912281.jpg

I had the privilege of seeing this view for the 2 years that I lived in Seattle. Mount Rainier, a volcano in the Cascade Mountain range is a major Washington landmark.

    Denali_Mt_McKinley.jpg

Mount McKinley is the tallest mountain in North America I believe and it's in Alaska but I've never seen it although it looks amazing.
