    Default How medieval Russians looks like;

    World famous Russian anthropologist named Mikhail Gerasimov, the pioneer of the facial reconstruction work from human skull, reconstructed several medieval Russians, by using their own skulls, excavated from their graves.

    Here are some works of him. Needless to say, wrinkles of the skin, hairstyle and facial hair are just an imagination of the artist but it should be similar of how they were when these people was alive;

    Yaroslav the Wise, Prince of Kiev, 11th century;

    Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky of 12th century;

    Prince Ivan the Terrible of 16th century;

    And his other famous works;

    Emir Timur Khan/Tamerlane of 14th century;

    Timur looks like similar to today`s Kazaks with his partly mongol appearance but medieval Russian princes looks even more mongolic than Timur, especially Andrey B. and Ivan the terrible.

    A woman in Volga Bulgaria from late bronze age;

    A man from today`s Russia in bronze age;

    Men from western Siberia in late bronze age. These people should be the distant cousins of today`s Finns;

    A Scythian man from late antiquity;

    LoL, fuck off.

    Besides, Bogolyubsky was half Volga Bulgar or summat, and Ioann Vasilievich was at least part Greek anyway.

    Interesting appearances, and some definitely have Mongoloid influences, which is indicative of the Eurasian roots or connections Russia has. A few more have a Slavic/Balto-Slavic appearance, which seem to be similar to the cranio-facial structure of Russians.

    I find it interesting that the Sycthian man has an East-Nordid like appearance, but with a slightly stronger Dinaromorphic/Iranomorphic structure.

    The East-Nordid type is probably the result of progressive Nord-Iranid types being Nordicized by local variants in that part of the world. The local variants probably would have mimicked the Halstatt Nordid type, which would give the East-Nordid structure what we know of it today.

    What, still praising mother Russia? Dont get mad at me, this is the work of a Russian anthropologist and it`s the truth. Sorry if i broke your feelings about your Russian masters.

    Btw you still keep these statues in Bulgaria? Like Bulgarian soldiers greeting Russian soldiers with a french kiss?!!

    Yes, i agree. Scythian one looks like Germanic, maybe his descendants became eastern Goths after 2-3 centuries?

    Other bronze age men&woman has turanid looks and western Siberians really looks similar to Finns.

    I'm not sure what are you trying to prove here. That Russian population has had strong mongoloid component in it for centuries? But its well known fact. Russia had absorbed number of Asiatic tribes and states during its expansion to the East. They all were treated with respect, they all kept their religions, the nobility of those ethnic groups has been given same status as Russian nobility and they all kept their privileges and functions within their people. There was very little or no mistreatment of asiatc ethnicities in Russia which allowed them to keep their identity, language, culture, religion till this day.

    But all this had no impact on gene pool of ethnic Russians. Vast majority of them are pure Europoids and have no any Mongoloid features.

    Btw Ivan the Terrible is a terrible example of Mongoloid. His ancestry is well known. His non-Russian components are grandmother on father's side was niece of Byzantine emperor and his mother was of Lithuanian and Serbian origin.

    Also where do you think all those Scythians and Sarmatians gone? Nowhere. They all still live at the same areas and represent large bulk of modern ethnic Russians.

    Scytho-Sarmatians were nomads from Steppes, most of their modern descendants are turkic speakers. Classic Russians are slavs with finno-ugrian influence.
