Difference between Norid, Nordo-Mediterranid and Atlanto-Mediterranid

Norid = narrow-faced brachycephals with light pigmentation of eyes and/or hair.

Coon's definition of Norid:

Noric: A blond, planoccipital brachycephal frequently encountered in South Germany and elsewhere in central Europe. This is apparently an Iron Age Nordic brachycephalized by Dinaric mixture and seems in most respects to take the form of a blond Dinaric variant. Both Deniker and Czekanowski have recognized this type, and it is a standard race, under various names, in most Russian studies. The name Noric was gived it by Lebzelter.

Nordo-Mediterranid = Atlantid. Western Europeans showing a combination of Nordid and Mediterranid facial features.

Atlanto-Mediterranid = tall, narrow-faced dolichocephals, usually brunette or black-haired.

Coon's definition of Atlanto-Mediterranid:

Atlanto-Mediterranean: The tall, straight-nosed Mediterranean, not mesocephalic, as Deniker erroneously stated, but strongly dolichocephalic. Today this race forms the principal element in the population of North Africa, and is strong in Iraq, Palestine, parts of Arabia, and the eastern Balkans; in solution with varying degrees of negroid it is also the principal race in the whole of East Africa. In Europe it is a minority element in the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, and the British Isles.

Norid is supposed to be Nordid + Dinarid (hence the name being a mix of the two)


Nordo-Mediterranid is basically what people call "North Atlantid" and is basically Nordid + Mediterranid (the name itself says it)


"Atlanto-Mediterranid" is just a taller and more dolichocephalic (longer skull) as well as maybe longer faced version of the "Gracile Mediterranid"/"classical mediterranid", possibly due to either a bit of either CM or nordid mixture/substratum, but still predominately mediterranean.

vangelis moras is a good example of a corded/dinarid mix.. He has a very tall and narrow skull as cordeds have but he also has dinarid features like a sloped forehead, flattened occiput etc

Norid=Dinarid+Nordid and other (e.g. East Europid) admixture.
Atlanto-med= Tall, straight-nosed and strongly dolichocephalic Mediterranid type, the living equivalent of the skeletal Megalithic type (in the typology of Coon).
Nordo-med=It can be used to describe people with both Nordic and Mediterranean traits, but who don't really fit under a specific phenotype such as Atlantid.
Atlantid= A type that combines features of Nordid and Mediterranid in a unique and consistent way.

Noric = blonde 1/3 Alpine 2/3 Med mix, inherits brachycephaly/hyperbrachycephaly (CI always over 82) from Alpine, planoccipital
Atlanto-Med = hyperdolichocephalic to low dolichocephalic, rather robust (but not as robust as UP/"CM" crania) but overall leptomorphic, tall, head length >200 mm, leptorrhine, strong browridge and mandible
"Nordo-Med" = unstable made up type by Hooton Hears a Who, basically a "lighter" lower meso Atlanto-Med, doesn't have to be leptorrhine (high mesorrhine at most) apparently, head length is similar or slightly shorter, otherwise seems to be roughly equivalent to Atlanto-Med or rather Eickstedt's "Atlantid"
