IMO it is to pass the genes and wisdom to the next generation, in other words, to have children.

It sure seems that way most of the time at the basic level. But there is this little thing ... nothing is what it seems. In reality we are not sure what we are. The deeper you dig in quantum physics all this seems more like an idea/thought than anything else. Matter is all we know so far or can prove. Ignorance may or may not be bliss.
