The Great Serb Migrations happened at those time periods but migration began before when the Ottomans started conquering Serbia in the 1300s. Serbs managed to reach 50% of Vojvodina's populatino by 1483. There was another wave of migration into Vojvodina in the latter half of the 16th century as well. There was also a Serb mercenary (Jovan Nenad) in the 16th century that declared Vojvodina independent from Hungary after they lost to the Ottomans at Mohacs. Serbs also migrated to the southern part of modern Hungary and became the majority in some cities such as Szeged and Pecs. Most of those Serbs migrated to Vojvodina after the Treaty of Trianon.
