Wien ist vieles auf einmal: wunderbar altmodisch und hochmodern. Welche Metropole hat schon eine Stadtbahn mit Stationen, die welterbewürdig sind und mittlerweile von U-Bahnen angefahren werden. Und da gibt es ja auch noch den neuen Hauptbahnhof, mit dem Wien endlich das heiß ersehnte Drehkreuz für den Eisenbahnverkehr bekam. Wie einst zu Kaisers Zeiten zuckelt die Straßenbahn durch enge Gassen und über dieselben Gleise kurvt „Ulf“, eine Tram, die Maßstäbe setzte. Längst pilgern auch Verkehrsexperten in die Stadt an der Donau. Die Metropole zählt inzwischen mehr Besitzer von Jahreskarten für die „Öffis“ als von Autos. Wien ist vorne dran, weil die Stadt nicht immer gleich auf jeden Zug aufspringt, nicht in Hektik verfällt, sondern es ruhig angehen lässt. Ein Film von Helmut Frei (Folge 913 vom 28.10.2017)

Anhand einer animierten Grafik soll die Entwicklung des Wiener U-Bahnnetzes kurz erklärt werden. Das Hauptaugenmerk wurde dabei auf eine übersichtliche sowie lagerichtige Darstellung gelegt. Dabei wurden aus Gründen der Übersichtlichkeit nur Endstationen beschriftet. Ein abwechslungsreicher Wintertag am Zauberberg Semmering. Zug um Zug, zuerst im dichten Nebel am Scheitelpunkt der Strecke im Bahnhof Semmering, danach bei strahlendem Sonnenschein am Südportal des Semmeringtunnels und schließlich am späteren Nachmittag in Breitenstein.

Hallstatt, eponymous site where that famous phenotype was discovered (or something). I visited this place in spring 2015, long before that ever held any significance to me, but I was still able to appreciate how beautiful it was. Shame there were so many Chinese tourists pushing and shoving all over the place, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone else.


Zell am See, a pretty village near Salzburg. Stayed here when I went to make the trip to Hitler's Kehlsteinhaus in Berchtesgaden.


Achensee in Tyrol. The scenery in this photo is so dramatic it could be mistaken for a Norwegian fjord. Beautiful place, when I went there in person it was very cloudy and overcast though - it looks much more beautiful in the sun.
