The "Von Trapp family home" that was shown in the Sound of Music were actually two properties in Salzburg:
Schloss Leopoldskron was used for many of the garden scenes including the famous boating and gazebo scenes.
The famous gazebo was moved elsewhere (to Schloss Hellbrunn) in 1988. The below picture dates back to 1987 and the interior shots place in a reconstructed and enlarged gazebo in a studio as the actual one was too small:
Most scenes of the front of the building are actually those of the adjacent Schloss Frohnburg:
As one can see here in detail in the scene where "the Captain, just returned from his honeymoon, expresses his sentiments about the Anschluss and the flying of a foreign flag over his domicile":
