Europe's Worst Drug Streets in Omonoia

Finally, someone highlighted precisely how bad this area of Athens really is. Anyone who says that "it isn't as bad", is either a fool or lying through their teeth.

This is how all of the city is going to be like if measures aren't taken. And any city in Europe for that matter.

I've seen some shitholes but (at least for a developed country) this takes the biscuit, especially the sheer amount of graffiti. Omonoia Square didn't look so bad, though. As a side note, the guy's pseudo-Afram language was grating.

Well, the graffiti is the least you have to worry for.

Why not remove them? Is it supposed to be not enough democratic? I mean drug trade exists everywhere and it's semi-controlled by authorities, but no one really needs existence of such districts.

A bit like Amsterdam's Zeedijk and Bijlmermeer Area, the back of Rotterdam's old train station ("Perron (Platform) 0"), Nijmegen's Kronenburgpark, or the old Hoog Catherijne side of Utrecht's old train station back in the 1970s to early 2000s. It was a complete and utter shit show.

Drugs are no game, they literally can take you to the life style the next following day. It's always better to do some prayers before going to sleep to ask God for the right path.

Thing is, it's at the literal centre of the city, right above its most touristy section. And right next to some of the most affluent regions in the city and the country as a whole. Plus, it's not a thing of the past. It's pretty current. And it's getting worse year by year. That while the aforementioned rich regions are getting better and better.

Is it the usual thing in Greece, the ghettos being inside the cities?
