How many relationships did you have?

I lived with a girl from age 17-18 with talks of marriage, after that failed I wasn't really into deeply committed relationships like that anymore, so relationships afterwards only lasted about 6 mos or less. From age 23-30 I've basically just had pointless relationships but am more eager to settle down these days. I don't like casual relationships or people who bounce around from one relationship to another meaninglessly. But it seems to be standard with American women these days. By the time an avg American woman reaches 20 she's been in more "relationships" than every male poster in this thread combined.

It seems very common for people just to jump around in relationships. Especially young American women. They're so flighty and self centered that everything they do is practically meaningless. I guess there must be some sort of social pressure for them to act like some caricature of how they think an average man is (sleeping around meaninglessly, having open relationships, leading one person on but dumping them as soon as another shows interest etc). That's my experience anyways. I would rather be single then get wrapped up in all the drama. It's interesting how you can get into a relationship with someone and only find out the next day they already have a boyfriend they've been seeing. Or to be led on for a month with them calling you "love" only for the next day to hear "truth is I'm really still in love with my ex". It's all disgusting to me how meaningless people can make one of the only really enjoyable things in life to be anymore.
