Dutch poll: Green Left party at all-time low

A weekly opinion poll suggests the Green Left party can now count on just four seats in parliament compared with the ten it actually has.

The party, which was founded in 1989, last week was still good for seven MPs. The drop comes in the wake of internal squabbling about the election of a new party leader.

The outgoing governing pro-business VVD party also loses three seats in the survey and now would get 25 seats. The opposition Labour and the Freedom Party each would have 23.

The Socialist Party, with 29 seats, remains the country’s largest party, as was the case last week. The outgoing Christian Democrats and the opposition D66 party remain stable at 15 and 17 seats respectively.

The five-party coalition which recently agreed a second austerity package again fails to obtain a majority. The VVD, the Christian Democrats, D66, Green Left and the Christian Union together would get 72 seats, four short of a majority. Other likely coalitions also failed to secure a majority.

Finally some good news. A bunch of hyperliberal (in the American sense) hippies that have lost their way a long time ago and only start talking about the environment during election time and for the rest only concern themselves with increasing the number of immigrants (and failing at that ) the further destruction of the welfare state ("we have to modernise the economy and make it more efficient" - is their claim) and selling out this country to the EU.

I hope for their speedy marginalisation and their brutal downfall and I hope that the same thing happens to D66, CDA and the PvdA.
