So today I had another evaluation, and it was recommended that I should take drugs for my anxiety and obsessive tendencies, which is believed to cause my sensory issues. I decided I'd see whether or not there was a big difference. The drug prescribed was Zoloft. Anybody have experience with it? I have anxiety over taking drugs ironically, so I want to know how safe it is, before I experience it myself

Also, my mother told me that she should have taken me to the psychiatrist when I was three and I asked her if we could cook the neighbors in the oven. Then she thinks I killed a pet cat we had when I was about two years because it was dieing of an injury (broken spine) and I was sitting near it, when she entered the room. Obviously I had some empathy issues back then. I'm just glad it was autism and not sociopathy/psychopathy, as those odd characteristics seem to be signs of.

Or maybe instead the question should be: What is `Asperger's syndrome'? And how does it relate to Autism, Schizophrenia, and personality types.

Hans Asperger called the condition autistic personality disorder in childhood. [Eva Ssucharewa and Sula Wollf described the same condition independently and called it schizoid personality disorder in childhood]. Asperger compared the condition to Schizophrenia and Autism. He emphatically stated that it was a personality type--when observed at the clinical level, it had become maladaptive to the point of being called a `personality disorder'. He compared it to Kretschmer's schyzothymous personality, Jaensch's disintegrated personality, and most especially Jung's introverted personality.
Introversion, if it is a restriction of the self and a narrowing of the relations to the environment, may well be [autistic personality] in essence. (Hans Asperger, 1944)
It was not until the 1980s that the condition that Hans Asperger described began to be artificially re-invented as an `Autism Spectrum Disorder'; the re-invention was completed with publication of ICD-10 (1992) and DSM-IV (1994).

Now, the diagnosis is in jeopardy of losing taxonomic status in the USA since researchers have largely concluded that the (artificial) taxonomic category is not valid.

I wrote about the development of the Asperger's Syndrome diagnostic category here:

It's a specific type of Autism Lite TM.

Psychiatrists want to diagnose as many people as they can with it, and pushy parents and social Darwinists want to pass it off as laziness and anti-social behaviour.

My little cousin has Aspergers. I don't. But I do have a long standing trouble with maintaining eye contact with people in a conversation. It's something that I try actively to overcome, but it's quite difficult.

In regards to sensory processing disorders, my mother has been seeing this a lot more in her daycare, and we have a couple of empirical evidence based theories.

    1) Vaccine damage: The toxins in vaccines are not tested, and are most likely more damaging than the authorities are telling us.

2)Less human touch: More and more mothers and fathers are not actively touching their babies as much as they used to. Baby wearing is not nearly as common, parents put their babies in bouncy seats and swings and don't actively carry them in slings or carriers and don't have as much skin to skin contact. This is very very important for the newborn, and children who have these sensory issues are able to work out of these issues with therapy and one on one contact with loving care givers.

3)Overstimulation: I mean electronic stimulation, like computers and video games, not the normal stimulation of being outside.

These are just our personal theories. Once you're past a certain age, it is very difficult to correct the sensory issues, it's much easier to do that when the child is under the age of 5.
