Italy has one of the worst internet infrastructures in Europe (28th place of 31 in Europe; 58th in the World) , and the subscriptions are the most expensive in Europe. Optical fiber connections started to appear just 3 or 4 years ago in the major cities, before that you could consider yourself lucky to reach 20mb, however most of internet subscriptions still have old 7mb profiles dating back to 10 years ago.
