There were many threads about the look of ancient slavs, the ones of old stock were made of EastNordid(iranomorphic,dinaromorphic,corded), Atlanto-Pontid and Eastcromagnoid (replaced later by more reduced forms). Dinarid and Alpinid came later.

Well in slavic language most present resemblances with other indoeuropean languages are with balto-slavic languages - latvian and lithuanian.
2nd there are some elements of west iranic languages which are supposed to be taken from sarmatians and so on and 3rd some elements that are supposed to be taken from thracian languages.
This as major influences.
So actually it seems that slavs are formed from the mix of balto-slavs which are nordics,of baltid profile mostly with sarmatians and so on which are indo-iranic population and with thracians.
Now it seems that south slavs have more thracian ancestry,poles,belarusians, russians mostly balto-slavic,with russians having also plento of fino-ugrian and viking ancestry.

I think about times when Slavs became distinct people with own language and separated.

Impossible to know because ancient Slavs cremating remains. Some say ancient Slavs is dolichocephalic East-Nordid and not different from Baltic and Germanic tribe. Some say Ancient Slavs is Neo-Danubian. Some say Ancient Slavs is Alpine. Some say ancient Slavs is Pontid and some say Dinarid but I think they confuse with Ilyrians. I don't know.

I say closer to Neo-Danubian/Baltid range/East Nordid range.
