I come from noble family, my ancestors founded country defended country in middle age, my uncle was head of State Prime Minister in 20th century, my ancestors fought in WWII or got deported. Noone was sparred. Current reality is that Germany is closer to Netherlands and UK than to Poland or Hungary, and those are closer to let's say Romania or Bulgaria than to Germany or Switzerland.
But that doesn't mean it was always like that.

There was sharp cultural divide between Catholic and Orthodox societies in ''east-central Europe'' and differences can be observed until this day.
But with decrease of importance of religion and increase of importance of economic prosperity (or lack of it) , these differences are less and less.

In my village before the war was: Catholic, Orthodox, Jews, Muslims, Romas, etc and they all mixed in Austro Hungarian part of Ukraine. Now as offshoot of these people we have responsibility puzzle piece together our history.

Central Europe is imagination, I only heard of that term when I started reading this forum + eupedia. There is only EASTERN EUROPE and people who are lesser Eastern European Slavs for example: Modern Hungarians, Austrians, Slovenes, Croats, Czechs try to use this fabricated term Central Europe lol.

Noone in the west has heard of this term Central Europe, they will think you speak of France or Germany. Anyone in the Slavosphere is considered Russian to them because of media.
