I love the countryside, so I decided to open this thread. You can post manor houses and manors of your country. In Portugal there are mainly two types of manors, going by different names.
Herdade or quinta: grand rural property generally consisting of pasture (called montado) and sowing land.
Casal: a rural property similar to the herdade/quinta, but smaller in size.
The solar: the country house/cottage placed in a herdade/quinta or casal, that used to be traditionally owned by the landed gentry.
Many of them are dedicated to the production of wine, development of livestock, hunting, horsemanship and/or more recently to countryside tourism.
Examples:
Herdade da Matinha (Alentejo, Portugal)
