falling population in russia

hello people,
russia, perhaps the prime source of white blood is showing an alarming decline in population for some years. in plain english, more russians are dying and fewer are born every passing year.
other than the socio-economic upheavals following the break-up of the u.s.s.r what other reasons do you see behind this?
a recent nationwide survey carried out on the express wishes of putin revealed
that young fertile couples did not want children as 'there are no prospects of giving them a good life due to economic hardships".
comments? suggestions? do you see this changing in the near future?
i truly believe such a noble,handsome people deserve to proliferate than us indian midgets.
for me one childless white couple = lesser human beauty on earth

just for the heck of it consider the demographics of india and russia and their sizes.
india - 1billion + 250 million + 25 million per year

russia - 140 million and declining. geographically almost thrice as big as india.

Russia has a very low birth rate, but luckly not a big/massive non-euro immigration as Western and Northern Europe.
