The apricity made me think about the relationship between Bulgarians and the other South Slavs. I have been reading this forum for a while and I noticed that some of the South Slavs don't feel or think that they are related to us. Is that true? What are the reasons behind this attitude?
For example: A few nights ago me and a few other South Slavs (two Serbians, a Macedonian, a Slovene and a Croat) started chatting in our own native languages. The results were pretty interesting, the Macedonian didn't think that we could uderstand each other (which wasn't true), the Serbian was surprised that we can understand each other so well, the Croat prentended that he didn't understand a word and the Slovene ignored me when I said that I understand her perfectly. It's nothing personal towards the other members, I think it's just interesting.
So, what are the reasons behind this attitude and do some of you feel ashamed of being related to us?
