UK schools ban pork from lunches owing to religious reasons

Schools in UK have banned pork from school lunches for religious reasons.

Haringey Council, North London, recently adviced all schools to ban pork, which is not eaten by Jews or Muslims, across the country, and to meet the needs of staff and pupils who are not allowed to have contact with it.

The decision has been criticised by lawmakers who said that the ban would cause unnecessary resentment among pupils and religious leaders who have never asked for a ban.

I dunno. I am agnostic and could give a crap what various religious doctrines say about pork.....but still, something about pork just grosses me out. I hardly ever eat it....seems all I can stomach is Ham.

Wait a tick, did the ban already happen or is it just being suggested?

The article says that 20 of 48 schools supplied by Pabulum (a caterer in SE England) provide non-pork options, does not necessarily mean that pork is completely substituted out but that perhaps one could choose between pork or non-pork meal.

And that lawmakers are wary about the ban because of possible uproar, which suggests that it has not been enacted just proposed.

The title seems to be a bit misleading.....

This is not correct is in the advantage of people of muslim and mozaic religion.
More correct would have been to put 2 kind of meals,one with pork and another one without pork.

Don't think we ever had pork at school. It was always cheese and chips or pizza. Usually had the packed lunch.
