    Default Syria Gets Complicated

    Syria Gets Complicated
Once some powerful people in Washington decide that they want a war, they do not give up until they get it. The proponents of an American-led NATO intervention in Syria were on the defensive in April, when government forces were winning on the ground and the political balance inside the Beltway seemed to be favoring restraint. In May they regrouped and reconsidered their strategy. Now they are back with a vengeance.

The U.S is staying aloof in the whole situation of Syria. The Syrian revolt has been mostly supported by Turkey and the Arab nations, well Iran is trying to maintain the status quo of the Assad regime, because if he falls it will loose it's influence in the Near East and Hezbollah would no longer exist as it's proxy of Assad who in turn is a proxy of Iran. However the U.S has some fears that the Islamists might come to power, which is not in it's interest that they would, since they made Iran more powerful and placed Shia Islamist government in Iraq, even if the Islamists that would come are not Shias it will be problematic for the U.S, although it would indeed like to see the fall of Assad. The situation is not complicated as it was made to be, but the regime of Assad has finally collapsed. Not even the reforms are going to pursue the general public, since many just resent their leader and don't want neither Iran, China, or Russia to be playing games within their nation.
