    Default Artek's mtDNA results(FTDNA)

    My mtdna is U4
Something more about it from Wikipedia:
    Haplogroup U4

Haplogroup U4 (named 'Ulrike' by Bryan Sykes) has its origin in the Upper Palaeolithic, dating to approximately 25,000 years ago. It is widely distributed in Europe, and has been implicated in the expansion of modern humans into Europe occurring before the Last Glacial Maximum. Found in Svan population from Svaneti region(Georgia, Caucasus) 8,3%

My maternal side comes basically from Western Europe, mainly Netherlands and Germany. Most of matches are from the UK (and Germany)though.

You should also bear in mind that western countries have much more partecipants hence more matches.

    Congrats!
Which one did you order mtFullSequence or mtDNAPlus?

That's true but still the gap is too big, safinator. I analysed a Polish project and it's quite large when it comes to the numer of participants.

It's just mtDNA, I will upgrade it to the mtDNAPlus soon.

That's true, the biggest clue is that Sweden scores the highest percentage at 0.8% so far. Looks more North-West.

I know only recent ancestry of my maternal side, but what had happened 500 or more years ago? .
I should know more after an upgrade to the HVR2.

A little update, I have received an e-mail from Haplogroup U4 project:
Thank you for joining the U4 project. You have 16134T, a "difference" from the Cambridge Reference Sequence which defines the U4a1 subclade or sub-branch of haplogroup U4. I have therefore added you to the U4a1 group on the project's results page. You'll see that U4a1 seems to have quite a wide geographical spread. It is possible to further refine your haplogroup classification but to do this you would need to upgrade to the full mitochondrial sequence (FMS) test

Thats what they told me to, I need to pay for the full sequence. In the end I might not even belong to a specific subclade.. I don't think it's worth the money. Paternal lineage is far more important for me so I paid for a deep-clade test.
