It depends what part of West Africa. The areas around Mauritania and Mali I could see having an Egyptian link, but places like Gabon and Nigeria are separate Niger-Congo areas.

Some West Africans from the Sahel do look kind of similar to rural southern Egyptians today.

That's true. Given the nomadic nature of many Saharan peoples, there probably is some kind of connection.

It reminds me of "March Of The Titans", which is a great look into extreme Nordicism. I suggest that we dispense with tribalism when we study the past. "Not Out Of Africa" is a terrific scholarly book on the excesses and myths of Afrocentrism. There were *real* Black civilizations, so there's no need for fantasy in the guise of history.

They have no historic achievements to speak of, so they hijack someone else's.

Actually.. Timbuktu, Nubia, ancient Ethiopia (which featured in the Bible). Ancient Egypt was too mixed to be considered a "black" civilization but there were black civilizations in Africa with their own merit.

Timbuktu was built up by Muslims from North Africa and was a major slave trading post. I'm amazed how liberals can demonize the old South in America yet praise African cities that were centers of the slave trade.

Btw, that's an ugly monkey in your avatar.

Arabized Sahelian Berbers if anything, like Tuaregs and people similar to them who are definitely of native African origin (a combination of northern Berber and West African, essentially).

As for my avatar.. I only put it up for today because today is the twenty-seventh year Cape Verde has been independent and she is a prominent Cape Verdean of today. You can tolerate it for one day.
