I'm not sure any of them have said that "Looks" don't matter.
It is just that women judge from a broader perspective.
1) Genetics/Looks and 2) Provider/Protector.
From a traditional perspective women had more invested in relationships than men did, and as such needed reliability.
It should also be pointed out that, I think much of this is ingrained into the way they think, just as an attractive face on a women attracts a man.
Men on the other hand traditionally, were not bound to relationships, and could move on, so looks were more important to them.
