Dorian Yates like HIT (as i do warm up sets), I have a 2 x Split for the upper body and i really train only 2 times a week as i need at least three days to recover. I most likely do still too much volume. And i also train once my legs.

Also 2 times Stepper as its more effective for me than Bike or Cross, i like walking a lot as well- sounds like i m getting old lol.

Then undoubtedly you have read Mike Mentzer's books

Mentzer was an early influence on me. Although over the years I have undulated between HIT and higher volume, somewhat lower intensity, routines.

I do a lot of walking now too so we are probably in the same age range haha.

you are older, but my ankles may be older than yours.

yeah, i read Mentzer, before i trained a lot volume as like working out and than around corona i trained a while just once at home without trying to get "stronger"- i learnt its really that focus on pushing the muscle to failure while not overdoing it with a lot of exercises just because you feel you can is the best actually. So any average dude could have decent muscularity with max. 90 mins of training a week.

What kind of work-out do you do ?
I replicate some of the training I did many years ago when I was an amateur boxer , however these days in my late 40's I do a lighter version.

I do exercise bike and treadmill and road bike as opposed to running but I still do some light skipping rope and various foot work excercise routines.

I do pushups and situps and sometimes use the epiliptical trainer .

I like to use the floor to ceiling ball - its great for training: movement-reflexes-coordination-hand speed
I have two different punching bags a really heavy bag that you need to hit really really hard to move it and a more medium sized bag that I can get it swinging with some moderate powered punches.

I do shadow boxing type drills , often using a mirror , for example one drill is that I will do 100-150 hooks alternating between left and right , this drills really effective in developing body movement so that your developing a strong body punch and not simply a hand punch.

I dont do a great deal of weight training other than basic dumbell excercises such as: bicep curls, flys =standing and or laying flat flys, bench press, leg curls / leg press.

I also use dumbells whilst slo mo shaping punches = uppercuts, short hooks, jabs, right cross.

I do HIIT and TABATA 2 times a week + yoga once a week. I'm also into running, though I'm not doing it lately due to a busy agenda.
