I'm theistic (Christian) while my husband isn't. We've been happily married since 2016 and have known each other since 2004. My parents were fine with the marriage as they had an unusual belief that people can be saved after they die, so they weren't worried about anything. I've since learned that it's barely accepted, to outright banned, in some other conservative Christian communities; I had some ultraconservative Calvinist friends online a few years ago who actively tried to break up the relationship. The WELS Lutherans caution against marrying unbelievers, but don't forbid it. 1 Corinthians 7 seems to allows for such cases, and is more marriage-specific than 2 Corinthians 6:14, the latter verse that people against marriage to unbelievers tend to use.

One would have to have either very general religious beliefs or not hold to their beliefs very strongly to do so, in my opinion. The older I get the less I understand people who are able to be romantically involved across such foundationally important issues as religion and politics.

She has to be a Christian. I don't care what denomination she is, though. She could be a former Jew (belief system) or a former Muslim. I know some Baptists who think that they're in a mixed marriage because they wed a Pentecostal.
