Great! Keep it up Amish people. The larger the population, the better. Two things that can happen with this: they maintain old German-American culture for a very long time, or they are absorbed into the White-American population and introduce traditional values. Ideally I'd want the first rather than the latter, but the latter isn't too bad either. Their population was in the few tens of thousands just a century ago. I can see an Amish population that is a considerable proportion of the U.S population if they keep it up. There is plenty of land in the West for them to do it as well.

This is no surprise as they need to sustain their ever growing family branches. I heard many youngsters are living the Amish around these areas of the country and moving into larger cities for a different lifestyle, there's nothing 'cool' anymore about bigger cities. Rural areas is where people need to stay, in these harsh economical and social times.

Amish people are really good people..I love them and have met about 20+ Amish so far..

Regarding population:
They have 6-7 children on average with 85% of those children retaining Amish religion belief and will mostly likely gonna have 6 children after a generation..

I think this kinda rapid multiplication is not a big deal since Amish don't rely on Welfare and they work hard to feed their family.

Mormons 14 million and have larger families. 100 million mormons by end of 21st century. This is why we really don't need immigration. Things will always stabilize on their own...and trend towards growth.

Yeah, but the Amish have it rough and they are obviously ethnic Germans like Utah Mormons are mostly English with perhaps a sprinkling of other Northern Euros. I'd rather switch from Anglicanism to Mormonism and acquire 8 wives. Amish men get only 1 wife and they shun modern conveniences.
