    Pomaks=Muslim Bulgarians.

    I can't explain the origins of these traditions. Do you have such things in Turkey?

    Yes, our villager people have similar wedding rituals, decorating their cloths and stuff but i have never seen painting the whole face like the one in your pictures.

    It's a pagan Slavic tradition/ritual; in Serbia it's 'Bele Poklade'... from what I know Croats have it too.
