Default Holy Roman Empire vs The English Empire

Who would win (during the Middle Ages, think Charlemagne and Alfred the Great).

Some Roman elector gets to be the king of the UK and it's all over I'm afraid.

This isn´t even worth a dicussion. The Holy Roman Empire was the only super power of Europe in that time, controlling most of the main continent.
    It´s like US vs UK.

Celto-Germanic > Germanic is obvious nonsense ofc. And not only that, most of the Holy Roman Empire had a significant measure of Celtic blood, especially in the French and South German part. In a sense France, Germany and England are all Celto-Germanic mixes to a degree.

Uhm yes, I think so too. The advantage of the Brits in history is their island. That's a good position. If it wasn't for their location on an island encompassed by water and sea the British people hadn't have the chance to stay independent in all the centuries.

I would actually go with England; it had a far more centralized system that could pull on great numbers of troops in a fast amount of time. The Holy Roman Empire was large and had more resources, but its decentralized nature made it gradually become clunky.

I think it was very much centralized at the time of Charlemagne.
