    Default Your favorite Progressive Albums

So what are your favorite progressive rock albums?

It's hard for me to choose, but Meddle by Pink Floyd is pretty epic, especially for their song of Echoes.

A Saucerful of Secrets is also amazing:

I'll write my list, as there are quite a few:

Pink Floyd's Meddle, Animals, Saucerful of Secrets, Relics, Wish You Were Here, and Dark Side of the Moon
Yes' Close to the Edge, Fragile and Time and a Word
Brian Eno's Here Come The Warm Jets and Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy
Phil Manzanera's Diamond Head and K-Scope
    Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells
Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick and Aqualung
Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Centre of the Earth and King Arthur's Knights at the Round Table - in particular the track Merlin the Magician
Stuff I've heard in passing have been by Emerson, Lake and Palmer, early Genesis and Jean Michel Jarre

My favourite all time progressive band was King Crimson and their albums I list as the ones I like are:
In the Court of the Crimson King, In the Wake of Poseidon, Lizards, Islands, Lark's Tongue in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, and (their best IMO) Red.

Hmm, that should cover it lol

It's hard to choose one favourite, as there is always one album you will like more than others in the present, but you will eventually seek to listen to something new as you have heard enough of that particular album.

My list of albums that I could see as being among my favourites:

Pink Floyd: A Saucerful of Secrets; Animals; Wish You Were Here; The Dark Side of the Moon; Meddle, which is almost entirely due to Echoes; The Wall. The highlight of my Pink Floyd musical experience is definitely Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii. I managed to create a relatively sense depraved environment and just listened.

King Crimson: In the Court of the Crimson King; Red; In the Wake of Poseidon; Larks' Tongues in Aspic; Starless and Bible Black.

Tool: Lateralus or "Holy Gift"; Aenima; 10 000 Days.

Dream Theater: Octavarium; Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence; Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

Opeth: Morningrise; Blackwater Park; Ghost Reveries.

    Camel: Camel; Mirage; Moonmadness.

    Coma: Financial Tycoon.

There are probably others that I am forgetting.

Haha! Yeah, Petrucci was one of my shred heroes growing up. I'd spend hours learning 'Erotomania' when I felt I had something to prove in those days.

Oh and how could I forget:

This album was pretty epic IMO. The ending part to 'Home' has like a 12/8 count and if your a 4/4 guy, making the transition is weird to say the least.

I like all of their works and is hard to choose any favorite album in particular.

Train of Thought is one of the best IMO

^That was acutally indeed a stellar album. It was right after they released "6 degrees..." which I was rather disapointed with. "Train..." was a mean lean 7 songs and Petrucci's riffs were particularly memorable on that album. I often get "Dying Soul"'s main theme riff stuck in my head over and over...
