I found this crazy news on a Swedish forum, very bizarre for a party who is "against" immigration..

Now I have to explain you something...
You people abroad mostly think of Lega Nord what international media has been telling you for years , i.e. a far right anti-immigrants anti-southerners hate party but that's not the case.
In regard to immigrants their position is moderate , the typical "since they behave , pay taxes and we need'em as workforce it's ok" , it's been them , together with allies of center-right , who passed in 2005 a gigantic amnesty for over 700,000 immigrants and now they're moving again to regularize foreigner nannies (I mean those who take care of elders , I don't know the exact English term).
And that is because Lega main electorate is made of entrepreneurs , businessmen of all sorts , small artisans and such...
The pseudo-revolutionary years of Lega have been the 90s but in 2000 when they re-allied with Berlusconi the party has shifted toward a much moderate policy , and that's been why me and many others have left them.
It's true there's still some extremists such as Mario Borghezio or Gentilini but it's just a bunch of people with no real power , exploited by the party ruling class to get headlines when elections get close and in rallies to excite the public.

Weird, I saw this in my local newspaper because she's originally from my city, but never knew she was in the Lega Nord.

Very weird, Rob .. But I remember Hussar or M. Bozinsky have commented something about it on one those "immigration" thread at the Anthroforum, that the important ethnic nationalist members of the party had been marginalized in recent elections..

Buongiorno a tutti, mi introduco qui perchè non trovo il forum di introduzione, mi scuso per l'eventuale scortesia.

Sono poco sorpreso di questo trend della Lega Nodde, così la chiamano al sud quelli che se ne intendono un poco, è un partito che da sempre abbaia molto per poi tornare tranquillo e moderato quando ottiene ciò che vuole.

In genere facilitazioni per le industrie del nord etc.

Comunque si dice che dietro dietro stiano manovrando gli americani per renderla un partito di immigrazione ordinata, come in America.

i'm few surprised by this Lega Nord trend as it was ever a party who was fighter party only apparently.

Lega Nodde, as we call it here , is a party that does much fuss to obtain something then it becomes calm and moderate again when it gets what it wants.

There are voices that Lega Nodde is funded secretly by the US in order to become a party supporting ordered immigration.

Usually Lega gets calm when it obtains funds for northern industries and its electorate.

It's true , Lega Nord has a strong tradition of expelling members whose line doesn't go along with that of the "bosses" , the first one I can recall is that of Prosperini in 1992 , in the late 90s they held several legendary stormy congresses (also with some phisical fights among opposite members) when most of the internal opposition to Bossi were expelled for ever , the late case is that of Max Ferrari , a pretty well known name to the public since he was the main anchor for Telepadania , despite this he too were expelled because he started to question , maybe too loud , Bossi and his clan's policy.
A pure shame.

For non-Italian speakers , Lecca Nodde is a southern slang to say Lega Nord...
They are called that way even here in the North by those who think Lega has just cheated us by selling off the real federalism with more cadreghe (i.e. seats , power and money) and also because of the overepresentation of southerners (and now blacks) in the Lega , Bossi himself is married to a southern woman , go figure...

Could the Italians speak a little more about the relationship between northern and southern Italians, i.e. is there a lot of antipathy and if so, why? Is it common for northern and southern Italians to (inter)marry?
