Why are people even bothered or surprised any more? Where do you find the energy to be outraged, even? It's all part of the same pathetic old show. It's all to get publicity, to have people talking about the pageant. It's worked. There's probably some good money to be earned now in advertising and so on.

Both and neither. When Caesar showed up, there were all parts of the spectum that you've outlined present. There were solid pockets of proper Germani, and still vast swathes of nonGermanised Celts, everything in between, and who knows what substrates of earlier peoples.

Yep, though to varying degrees. Those in the south have obviously been able to retain the speech of the Romanised Belgae, due to demographic weight and proximity to Romance centres elsewhere in Gaul, and those in the north have arisen due to the mass migration of Germanics from across the Rhine, to reinforce already present Germanising trends.

Do be honest I would not know without researching it. I know that much many cities and towns in Wallonia had Dutch names before Lodewijk XIV invaded. But wether or not they can claim a signaficant decandentcy from that tribe I do not know.

She must have dual-citizenship. She's not ugly by any means, but she's not representative of Belgium, home to Flemings, Wallonians and a German minority. But political-correctness rules over who's actually the most beautiful in the contest. I'm not surprised though. She appears to be a more Europid Turk but Mongoloid influence is evident.



If I had to guess her ethnicity I'd assume she's a lighter Mestiza. I've seen some Mexican women with similar looks. But Luern is right, Belgian isn't an ethnicity. It's a nationality, an artificial nation much like the former Czechoslovakia, the former Yugoslavia, and the Soviet Union.
