Unfolding in a series of eight mythic vignettes, this late work by Akira Kurosawa was inspired by the beloved director’s own nighttime visions, along with stories from Japanese folklore. In a visually sumptuous journey through the master’s imagination, tales of childlike wonder give way to apocalyptic apparitions: a young boy stumbles on a fox wedding in a forest; a soldier confronts the ghosts of the war dead; a power plant meltdown smothers a seaside landscape in radioactive fumes. Interspersed with reflections on the redemptive power of creation, including a richly textured tribute to Vincent van Gogh (who is played by Martin Scorsese), Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams is both a showcase for its maker’s artistry at its most unbridled and a deeply personal lament for a world at the mercy of human ignorance.

Whenever I've been stressed this year I've found myself revisiting this stunning location, nestled amongst the luscious rice fields of north Japan, with Mount Chokai - the tallest mountain in the region - looming in the clouds overhead. If you find yourself looking for an escape from a stressful day, launch this video on your nearest screen, turn the volume up and let the sound of the stream, the cicadas and the gentle breeze whisk you away to the Japanese countryside - just for a short while.
Hopefully, you'll be able to find the peace and relaxation you're looking for.

Saw this chick the other day, she was Asian, probably Japanese or something and damn she was hot... Made me see Asians in completely different eyes. I was walking past her and I looked a bit at her, she smiled at me.

I had a good time there earlier this year. Very clean, well organized (though apparently you can start seeing homeless people in small amounts now). Very proud and unique culture. They really have a dedication to excellence and quality in whatever they produce, especially food. The food was absolutely bomb. Even the 7 Elevens blew American ones out of the water. Milk bread, ramen, kobe wagyu beef. Even the conveyer belt sushi was better than most fancy sushi places in the West.

But yes there is certainly a weird aspect to them as well. I'm not too into the weeb/anime culture.
