• Things I like about Japan:

    The language

The minimal aesthetic in architecture and design

    The food

    The cinema

    The rural landscapes

    The martial arts

    The Zen branch of Buddhism

    The Samurai and Geisha traditions

    • Things I loathe about Japan

The manga/anime/pokemon whatever (all comic-related cults); it gives me the creeps as it implies some sort of pedophilia

Their stuck-up customs and fixated social ways out of which they cannot possibly function. Don't get me wrong, I love order and hierarchy; but I also love critical thinking and flexibility in problem solving (thinking outside the box) which is what made Europeans marvel

Their weird and sick sexual fixations on various things such as ejaculating in public, sniffing the underwear of young female students (I was told used student panties are often sold to companies by teen girls who in turn upload them in automatic vending machines for the pervs to have easy access ), and much weirder things to be mentioned here

The porn, wherein if you were to shave the genitalia of the actors, you could make a nice warm blanket for the winter; of course they are into "molesting" a little girl - with their tiny weenies that's about the best they can do.

Their horrendous TV shows were everyone just jumps up and down and shrieks frantically for no reason while dressed up like a carrot with polka dots

Their vehemently tasteless and extravagant kawaii street style; I just can't stand grown up women dressing up like 9-year olds, like Talvi says, with the fluorescent hair extensions and shoes with soles that are 5-stories tall and make them look like their walking on bricks.

Their urban landscape - just how much neon signs can the human brain tolerate without becoming insane?

Their notorious obsession with electronic gadgets.

    What I like about Japan:

Their Shinkansen (they are quick, reliable and efficient and always on time. Just the kind of things we need here in Europe), the fact they are a very innovative and educated (they really value their education) people (unlike the bullshit heard from Americans that Japanese can only copy stuff: well they are at least 20,30 years ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to robotics alone), their cuisine, their sense of aesthetics (I am a sucker for Japanese architecture) and ways of using even the tiniest spaces, Shintoism and the fact that they knew how to organise their economic rebirth after WWII - just their sense of order, propriety and (it may sound strange to hear that from a democrat like myself) hierarchy (yes I really appreciate the system of keiretsu and I think we should copy it and learn from it):

I really appreciate Japanese music (Japanese traditional music, J-pop usually sucks eggs) and Japanese traditional art. Yap: the Nips really know their stuff.

When it comes to the "don't likes": Absinthe mentioned them all.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

I think that some of their women can be absolutely smashing but they should keep on wearing those traditional clothes as it looks much more natural on them. It seems that the Japanesecan choose between two modes only: respectable or just completely devoid of any morality. I remember that I have called the Japanese the "Brits of Asia" before because the Brits have exactly the same thing: either very sophisticated or complete thrash. It's probably because the Japanese society (like Britain) is hierarchical and overstructured so they just need to "bust out of the sardine can" every once in a while.

No, the Japanese people who have lived long were born at the time when they didnt dress and act like they are 9.
Also, the people from Japan who live the longest are from the south - Okinawa, Ryukyu islands, and whether one can call them Japanese is debatable.

Now they die at 50 from overworking. Its called 過労死.
