Concerning the "atheism" of Albanians, I heard, more than once, from several Albanians that they actually have a religion and that is Albanianism.
There is a quote from the Albanian poet Pashko Vasa in this regard:
Mos shikoni kisha e xhamia / Feja e shqyptarit âsht shqyptaria.
"Churches and mosques you shall not heed / The religion of Albanians is Albanism"
Curiously, I heard something similar from the Abkhaz people, traditionally divided between Christian Eastern Orthodox and Muslims.
