If I started to date a girl about my age, or a bit younger, and she is already a bit heavy, it is very likely that she will end up building more fat over time, as that is likely a natural condition, rather than a life style.

No, because I eat healthy and go to the gym 6 days a week. I am not fat so why should people expect me to be with a fat person ? People will generally hook up with people within their own attractiveness category or league and it is no secret that overweight people are considered less attractive than normal weight people. It isn't just superficial either because overweight people are prone to more diseases. We all ask of our partners, even if subconsciously, "Is this person healthy enough to carry my genes?" in the case of fat people the answer is a categorical no ! However, if I was out-of-shape and fat I would have to consider dating an overweight person because that would be in my league; although, I would still prefer a thinner mate but I would have less ground to stand on in demanding one.
