I am old enough to have played this game for countless hours:

In 1991 I bought a game called "Civilization" for my Amiga computer. It was a strategy game, were you had to build a civilization from stoneage to modern times, competing with other civs. I still play this game in its new variants.

I have always had chess on my PC, but the computer chess games ruined my passion for the game in real life. They made me adopt a strictly technical play style, which is good for beating a computer but not a human. It makes you play like a mathematician, neclecting the innovation and spontanity, the joy of chess. I wish I had never bought a chess game for my PC.

Other than that I like trader simulations, particularly those who deals with trade at sea.

But I am not much of a gamer, exept that I still play Civilization, whenever I get the chance.

I remember playing some of those games aswell.

Cannot remember if it was an Amstrad, or something else. The games would basically be on 'cassettes', which you would put into a keyboard console.

I don't think any games shaped me, though I really enjoyed Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario Bros. 3. However the Grand Theft Auto series is probably the reason why I pretty much only play 'open world' games now

It seems, we both have been through Home Computer Hell

A friend of mine had an Amstrad, which in many ways were better than the infamous Commodore 64. But sometimes product quality can't compete against marketing.

This was my first computer, the Texas TI-99 4A:

There were no games available for it, where I lived, and internet shopping was not invented yet, so I had to create my own games. Which was good. I became one of the early Basic programmers of the 1980's.

When I was a kid I played a lot of Donkey Kong and this vs game where you played tetris the first round, doctor mario the second round, and then tetris the third round - person with the most points at the end wins. I also played Super Mario World.

On the Sega I played Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog.

    PC - Duke Nukem.
