I have seen it two times and still have not watched it to the end.

Gods and Generals, I'll probably watch Gettysburg sometime tonight, I quite like that they analyse all points of view surrounding the civil war.
I believe that legends and myth are largely made of
“truth”, and indeed present aspects of it that can only be received in this mode; and long ago certain truths and modes of this kind were discovered and must always reappear.

    J.R.R. Tolkien

Indeed it might be a basic characteristic of existence that those who would know it completely would perish, in which case the strength of a spirit should be measured according to how much of the “truth” one could still barely endure-or to put it more clearly, to what degree one would require it to be thinned down, shrouded, sweetened, blunted, falsified.
    Nietzsche

To God everything is beautiful, good, and just; humans, however, think some things are unjust and others just.

    Schindler's List.

Just for fun, I started at the very end of the DVD and watched the movie backwards using the rewind button. As far as I can tell, the movie is about German soldiers who find a whole bunch of dead Jews at a prison camp, bring them back to life, give them jobs at Oskar Schindler's factories and then send them to live in various European countries.

I watched Heat last night and turned it off at the hour mark. What a terribly slow and boring film.

The big bank robbery near the end was good. Other than that, kinda boring.

Michael Mann also directed Public Enemies, which was basically just Heat in the 1930s.

The Union: The Business of Marijuana.

Talks about how powerful interests are keeping pot illegal even though making it legal could be a huge source of government income and put dealers out of business. It also shows how hemp can be used to make all sorts of goods, and can also be a huge cash crop. Drug testing is basically used to target users of marijuana as harder drugs leave no trace in the system soon after ingestion. More than 50 million people in the US smoke marijuana. The film shows how pot is distributed accross borders, and how many people (all the players) that are needed in distribution operations.

    Absolutely brilliant!

I watched Knowing last night, a flick with Nicholas Cage. It was a cross between The Sixth Sense, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and some bad Japanese apocalyptic disaster movie. Funny I've always enjoyed the first 2 of these movies and well a good Godzilla movie is always fun for kicks dontcha know, but this particular cinematic potpourri was pretty pourri!

The Brown Bunny (2003). Not a whole lot of dialogue in that one...

I went and watched Julie and Julia last night with my brother in law's girlfriend. I found it to be a sweet movie. It made me want to go get Mastering The Art Of French Cooking, and start cooking!

I'm still chuckling about the line "Lobster Killer"!
