GTA IV Thread

Anyone have Grand Theft Auto 4 for PC? I bought it yesterday. Is it possible to play well with no controller? I can't imagine it would be satisfying to use the directional pad on the keyboard to walk, meanwhile shooting at rivals, not to mention the hookers and then taking the money back, and running around in their blood.

Before I start GTA, I'm still playing Sims 3. GTA IV and the Sims, the number one guy game (besides Medieval Total War and other war games) and the number one chick game respectively. In the latter, there is interestingly enough, no way to lose.

Hmm no last GTA I owned was vice city. Spent so much time on it and had a good fun at the time.
I got rid of my consoles for internet use only.

I finished both games, not bad, when you are black is much better tho, the one where you are a Serb is poor, too easy, uninteresting missions and only good thing is hilarious Serbian accent, tho, if you're not a Serb that won't be so interesting either, so, game is pretty bad

Beat GTA IV a couple times on PC: it's just fine with mouse + keyboard; It will really bring your system to its knees, however. Poorly ported and relies heavily on CPU power for everything.

The one with the negro is San Andreas.

IV is the one with the Eastern Europeans.

Personally I'm waiting until I can get an Xbox 360 before I get GTA IV. I'm not interested in trying that game on PC after I read crappy reviews on the technical quality (lots of bugs in the PC version etc)

I was considering of buying it when it came out for PC. Really enjoyed the previous versions.

But luckily I decided to download it first to see if my aging computer is able to run it even somehow. It wasn't - and even if it would, after seeing how insane the "protection" was I wouldn't think a second about paying anything for it. In addition that you're not able to save your game unless you're connected to internet, I also had a nice evening of cleaning my machine from all the "rights management" crap it wanted to screw up my poor machine with. No thanks.

Are you serious!!! So I'd have to play the entire game in one sitting w/o connection?!

With San Andreas, you can get a mod to play your character as a white male living in South Africa

There is also a mod to be a Serb in Serbia and gangs are Partizan (Grave Diggers) and Red Star (Heroes) hooligans (Major football clubs here), I did not want to play because your character is a Red Star hooligan and I am a Grave Digger of course
