Default Origin of this surname, someone please help!

What is the origin of the surname "Randon"?

I have seen it listed as two things; Swiss Italian, and Maltese.

    Which one is it?

Since it's random it can be from anywhere at anytime you want. Seriously, it's French.

Know that you mentioned, I remember a girl whose surname was Randow. Are they connected?

The site says it's probably of Languedocian origin, and the frequencies in Geopatronyme confirm this. So it's from modern southern France, yet not French, but Occitan.

Current departments of Hérault and Gard look like the most probable area of origin.

Obviously this does not mean the guy you know comes from there.

From that info, apparently Valdagno, in the province of Vicenza (inland Venetia), is another major source for the surname.

Randon è tipicamente veneto, del vicentino, in particolare di Valdagno,
