Turkish is full of these unisex names (real Turkish ones ,not borrowings) usually are unisex ,Ayhan ,Burçin ,Eren ,Deniz ,Toprak ..

In your case Logan and Dakota must be mountain ,river or lake names am I right?

Well most of these names are of Irish origins, like Ashley, Morgan, and Riley. I'd have to ask an Irish person how they perceive them but I am curious for the average person's perception.

Mischa is another one that started off as a male name. The popular thing for a while in US was to give children first names that were originally Scottish surnames. To make them sound more yuppie/prestigious. Some of those names are similar.

As a Brit, do you consider Morgan and Ashley to be male or female names?

I know no guys that are named Morgan, Ashley, Dana, Stacy, Kelly, Dakota, Hayden (except for the actor), Madison, Tracy, or Whitney. All of the people I know with these names are girls. However, I know plenty of guys and girls named Taylor, Jamie, and Jordan. All of the Riley's and Logan's I have met have been boys. I don't know anyone named Tate, but I like that name.

ashley, dana, stacy, dakota, madison, and whitney seem mostly feminine (at least in canada). although i'd say "whit" is neutral, along with taylor, logan, jordan, jamie, hayden, riley, tate, morgan, and tracy. i've seen mostly males with reese and logan, though (again, in canada of like the two people i know named reese).

although i think 'alex' is the king/queen of unisex names ;p

I'm American and British. I was born in UK and lived there as a kid but have lived mostly in US now. Morgan sounds more male to me and Ashley more female.

Ah. Both are originally British male names so that's why I wondered.
