There you are right, other Europeans have better cakes, I like the English Sticky toffee pudding and the cupcakes. For some reason, English forgot their savoury variety along history (in some documents it was stated that English food in the old times was superb and they used more garlic than French) and/ or centered in confectionery, quite the opposite here. By the way, not sure in Valencia, but in Spain (for my taste) the more north you go, the better they get. Some spaniards won't agree... after all it's personal taste.
