Why would it be Jewish?
I mean, the girl I know with this name looks more Jewish than she looks Polish, but I assumed it was due to not being full Polish and maybe half something else.

No. It is not Czech nor Slovak, they have diacritics, same as South Slavs. Ending would be -ič in that case.
Like I said, by orthography, it is Polish. I did some google search, few results were showing mentions of Israel.
I dont know lot of Polish or Polish surnames (I dont understand Polish verry well to look in their sources), but it is some kind of hint anyway.
